The cake features the natural sweetness of ripe peaches combined with a moist cake base. The caramelization of the fruit adds depth and richness to the flavour.
The peaches at the bottom of the cake become tender and juicy during baking, contrasting with the soft, fluffy texture of the cake. The caramelized layer on top adds a slight crunch and sticky texture.
When the cake is flipped over onto a serving platter, the caramelized fruit creates a beautiful, rustic pattern on top of the cake, making it visually appealing and inviting.
While peaches are a classic choice for an upside-down cake, you can also experiment with other fruits such as pineapple, cherries, or even apples, depending on your preference and seasonal availability.
It can be served warm or at room temperature, sometimes with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream to complement the flavours and textures.
Overall, a gluten free peach upside-down cake is a delightful treat that combines the natural sweetness of fruit with the comforting appeal of homemade cake.
